Our mission is to preserve shared cultural and environmental heritages and promote democracy through education and collaborative arts-based cultural production, specifically designed for project locations and which include the expertises of community partners and participants and to promote arts-based economic and community development at the local, national, E.U. and global levels.
Tanzsaal Tegel
After 1914, it was first used as a cinema, and later, in the 1960s, as a supermarket. The original ceiling height disappeared behind a suspended ceiling, only to be revealed after 60 years of being closed off. A room that has preserved its history in its walls, proportions, and atmosphere.
The listed dance hall from 1901 becomes the Volcano Laboratory, a resonating space for body, art, and thought : an open place for art, dance, performance, and collaborative research. Here, bodies, ideas, and materials meet. The past remains visible & the future is explored. Tanzsaal is open to the neighborhood, artists, and the curious.
A sponsoring association for the Dance Hall will ensure its long-term preservation and maintenance, opening it up to art, education, and social exchange.
